Caldwell, Idaho - Freshman Parker Vernon of College of Idaho took a shutout into the sixth inning to help the Coyotes take down the Crusaders 11-4 in today's non-conference game at Wolf Field in Caldwell.
Vernon (1-0) earned his first collegiate win for the Coyotes after pitching five innings and giving up 10 hits and 3 runs. Todd Griffiths closed out the ninth for the Coyotes to bring them to 23-9 overall.
NNU's
Patrick Patterson (3-1) took the loss, giving up three runs in two innings of play. The Crusaders fall to 15-12 overall.
Jeffrey Harris went 3 for 5 and had two RBI's for the College of Idaho and Tyler Andazola went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's.
Sam Cook (3 for 3) and
Charlie Gorzo (3 for 5) both led the Crusaders with three hits.
Fernando Robles went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's for NNU.
The Crusaders will return back to GNAC action when they travel to Ellensburg, Washington to take on Central Washington University this Friday and Saturday.
