Crusaders Top Portland Bible on Homecoming Night

NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene men's basketball team defeated Portland Bible College 85-70 in front of a Homecoming Crowd tonight at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa, Idaho.
 
The Crusaders had four players scoring double figures in tonight's win. Kenny Jones led NNU with 17 points on 6 of 13 shooting. Jordan Nicholes and Keith Moilanen both had 14 points while Moilanen pulled down six rebounds for the Crusaders. Senior Jonathan Hawkins added 11 points and five rebounds. Kevin Rima had nine points and nine rebounds off the bench for NNU.

“It's good to see us off and running,” commented head coach Dave Daniels, “there were some exciting plays tonight and also some things that we need to work on as a team.”

The Crusader fan section had more than a win to cheer about. With their retro orange t-shirts on for Homecoming night, the“Cru-Zoo” was excited and loud for some key plays and big dunks from their Crusaders. 

Breen Weeks had 17 points for the Wildcats on 7 of 14 shooting from the field. Shabaz King-Lewis and Juston Coleman both had 16 points for Portland Bible.
 
The Crusaders shot 45.6-percent (31 of 68) from the field and 66.7-percent (14 of 21) from the foul line. The Wildcats shot 37.1-percent (23-62) from the field and 70.8-percent (17 of 24) from the charity stripe.
 
NNU will now travel to Azusa, California next Friday to take on Azusa Pacific University at 7:30 p.m.
