BILLINGS, Mont. – The Northwest Nazarene University men's soccer team finished the 2012 regular-season with a 2-0 win over Montana State University Billings in today's Great Northwest Athletic Conference match
“Billings is a very good team and threw everything at us today,” commented head coach
Coe Michaelson. “We really had to work hard to maintain composure and see that out, while playing down a man for thirty minutes.”

Evan McNiel headed the ball over the keeper for his third goal of the season to get NNU up 1-0.
Goalkeeper
Alfredo Ontiveros had eight saves in the first half keeping the Yellow Jackets scoreless.
Jaime Torres was able to score his fifth goal of the season in the 70
th minute. Torres dribbled past the MSUB defense and scored on a breakaway attempt to the right side of the net.
Alfredo Ontiveros finished with 11 saves in today's shutout. The Crusaders had four shot attempts in regulation.
NNU played with only 10 players for the final 25 minutes as
Jon Curry was penalized with his second yellow card of the match in the 65
th minute.
“Looking at our season, we have done really well. We now just wait and see what happens on Monday. Our hope is that the fact that we are the second best team in our conference over 14 games carries some weight,” added Michaelson.
NNU wraps up the regular season with a 9-4-5 overall record and finished 8-2-4 in GNAC play. The Crusaders are ranked 2
nd in the conference. NNU had a 25-point turn-around from the 2011 season, the Crusaders tallied 28 points this year, 25 points more than last season. The NCAA will release the final Regional Rankings on Monday, the top six teams will move on to the post season.
