MONMOUTH, Ore. – Despite having three players in double figures, the Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team fell 94-82 to Western Oregon University in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference game.
The Crusaders (3-3 overall, 0-1 GNAC) were led by
Kenny Jones in their first conference match-up of the 2012-2013 season. Jones had 23 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds for NNU.
Jonathan Hawkins added 20 points on 7 of 19 shooting in 33 minutes of play. Teammate
Jordan Nicholes chipped in 10 points for the Crusaders. Junior
Mario Donaldson led NNU on the glass, grabbing eight rebounds on the night.
Andy Avgi had 24 points on 8 of 15 from the floor to help lead the Wolves (5-2 overall, 1-0 GNAC). Devon Alexander posted 20 points after going 9 of 10 from the foul line. Jordan Wiley had 14 points with 9 of them coming from beyond the arc.
NNU was 9 of 10 (90-percent) from the foul line while WOU made 22 of 29 (75.9-percent). The Crusaders were 32 of 71 (45.1-percent) from the floor as they made 11 of 31 (35.5-percent) three-point attempts. The Wolves were 30 of 62 (48.4-percent) from the field.
The Crusaders will now travel to Lacey, Washington to face Saint Martins University on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Marcus Pavilion. The game can be seen live at
