PHOENIX, Ariz. – Jordan Nicholes, Jonathan Hawkins and Michal Kurimsky each scored double-figures to help the Northwest Nazarene Crusader men's basketball team defeat The Academy of Art University 78-70 in Phoenix, Arizona.
 
Nicholes led the Crusaders with 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting from the floor. Michal Kurimsky posted a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in 19 minutes of play. Jonathan Hawkins scored 13 points with 5 steals, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. 
 
The Knights also had three players scoring double figures. Czar Robotham posted 20 points to lead the Knights, while Ameer Shamsud-din and Rodrigo Maza each had 14 points for Academy of Art.
 
The Crusaders were 26 of 53 (49.1-percent) from the floor and 21 of 28 (75.0-percent) from the foul line. NNU out-rebounded the Knights 41 to 33. The Knights were 27 of 64 (42.2-percent) from the floor and 13 of 26 (50.0-percent) from the charity stripe.
 
NNU jumps to 3-2 overall while the Academy of Art moves to 1-4.
 
The Crusaders will now begin Great Northwest Athletic Conference play next Thursday as they face Western Oregon University at 7:00 p.m. in Monmouth, Oregon.
