NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team defeated the Nanooks of Alaska Fairbanks 3-1 in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference season finale at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa, Idaho.
The Crusaders topped the Nanooks in four-sets (25-19, 24-26, 25-18, 25-18). NNU recorded 17 blocks on the night.
Senior
Becky Flores led NNU in her final match as a Crusader. Flores had 13 kills with a .296 hitting percentage. With 13 kills, Flores moved up to fifth place in the all-time kills list for NNU and second in all-time blocks.
Carly Dranginis also played in her final match, posting eight-kills for NNU. Setter
Michelle Terpstra had 34 assists while
Linnea Phillips had 16 digs.
Elayna Rice added 9 kills on 20 attempts for the Crusaders.
“I am really proud of Becky (Flores) and Carly (Dranginis),” commented head coach Jared Sliger, “ It was great to send them out with a win and fun to see Becky move up the all-time kill list.”
Sam Harthurn had a match-high 16-kills to lead the Nanooks. Katyln Mataya posted 36 assists while Allison Oddy had a match-high 22 digs.
The Crusaders end the 2012 season with a 15-14 overall record and 8-10 in GNAC play. The Nanooks finished 6-18 overall and 4-15 in conference action.
