NNU Takes Down Alaska Anchorage in Four Sets

NAMPA, Idaho – Seniors Becky Flores and Carly Dranginis combined for 20-kills to help lead the Northwest Nazarene volleyball team past the Seawolves of Alaska Anchorage in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference match.
 
The Crusaders (14-14, 7-10 GNAC) topped the Seawolves in four-sets 20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23.
 
After dropping set-one, NNU battled back to win the final three-sets by a total of seven points.
 
Dranginis had 10-kills with a hitting percentage of .400. Flores added 10-kills on 26 attempts. Setter Michelle Terpstra recorded a match-high 34 assists and added 9 kills. Taylor Roberts and Kaitlyn Tuholski each had 13 digs for the Crusaders.
 
“Carly (Dranginis) and Heather (Allen) came up with some big blocks at the end for us,” commented head coach Jared Sliger, “I love looking at a boxscore and seeing this kind of balance throughout our team.”
 
Julia Mackey had 15 kills on 34 attempts to lead the Seawolves. Siobhan Johansen had 25 assists while Sarah Johnson recorded 16 digs for UAA.
 
NNU had 18 blocks in the match while UAA posted 12.
 
The Crusaders will host Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday for their final match of the 2012 season at 7:00 p.m. at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa, Idaho.
