NAMPA, Idaho - Northwest Nazarene University freshman
Lexi Fesenbek earned her second goal of the season lifting the Crusaders past the Saints of Saint Martin's University in today's double overtime GNAC match.
"I was really proud of our effort today. Thirty hours on a bus to Billings and back earlier this week could have been a factor but I was proud of our girls for not allowing it to be." commented head coach Jamie Lindvall.
Both teams battled in the first half holding each other scoreless.
In the 71st minute of play
Whitney Wood netted her third goal of the season.
Lexi Fesenbek took the corner kick and was able to find Wood three yards out as she was successful on her attempt.
Eight minutes later the Saints responded with a goal of their own. Ashley Richardson chipped in her third goal of the season. After getting pass the defense Caley Wiseman crossed a ball from the left side finding Richardson. Richardson was then able to chip a shot over the head of
Tanya Zickefoose to tie the game at 1-1.
Both teams would go scoreless in the first overtime.
The Crusaders wasted no time in the second overtime as
Kellynn McDaniel found
Lexi Fesenbek five yards out and Fesenbek was able to convert on her shot to lift the Crusaders past the Saints 2-1
"I thought we cam out really well in both halves and both overtime before Lexi (Fesenbek) put away the game-winner."
said Lindvall
