Men's Soccer Makes It Four Straight

NAMPA, Idaho - The Northwest Nazarene University men's soccer team extended their winning streak to four after today's 1-0 win over Montana State University Billings in Nampa, Idaho.

"First and foremost I'm proud of our guys for overcoming some significant adversity against a very good MSUB team today." commented head coach Coe Michaelson,"With that said, we really need to improve at taking our opportunities and putting games out of reach."

The Crusaders came out strong in the first period of play as Evan McNiel was able to net his first goal of the season. Sal Sanchez crossed a ball from the right side and was able to find McNiel 5 yards out as he put the Crusaders up 1-0.

Both teams would battle the rest of the game. The Crusaders had a total of 10 shots in regulation while the Yellow Jackets had 6.

"We are pleased with our performance half way through the conference but we need to stay on our toes and continue to improve if we are going to translate this into something bigger." said Michaelson. 

The Crusaders were carded two yellow's and one red in today's action while the Yellow Jackets four yellow cards and one red.

NNU now goes to 6-2-3 overall and 5-0-2 in GNAC play. The Yellow Jackets fall to 6-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in conference. 

The Crusaders will return to action next Thursday as they travel to Lacey, Washington to take on Saint Martin's Universit at 3:00 p.m.
