BILLINGS, Mont. - The Northwest Nazarene University women's soccer team fell to GNAC top-seed Montana State University Billings 2-1 in today's Great Northwest Athletic Conference soccer match.
"I thought our work rate was very good today but unfortunately we just weren't connecting very well and I think all of our girls can agree that we've each had far better games," commented head coach Jamie Lindvall. " In spite of that I'm proud of our girls for battling back and scoring a great goal. Full credit to Billings for a great season thus far."
The Yellow Jackets' Heidi Greenback put MSUB on the board in the 30th minute of play. Greenback received a ball from Teegan Koster and was able to get free and score on a breakaway attempt.
The Crusaders would have a good defensive stand the rest of the first half, going into the half down 1-0.
In the 70th minute Alisa Sagdahl scored her third goal of the season on a breakaway attempt. Jaucelyn Richter was credited with the assists.
The Crusaders would fight back five minutes later as
Jenny Field would get her foot on the ball and convert on her shot to get the Crusaders on the board 2-1.
Lexi Fesenbek earned the assists on the play.
NNU was unable to score with the remaining time, MSUB would come out with the victory 2-1.
The Crusaders had six shots while the Yellow Jackets had 21.
NNU drops to 5-6 overall and 2-5 in GNAC action. MSUB now goes to 10-1 overall and 6-1 in conference action.
The Crusaders will return home this Saturday to host Saint Martins University at noon in Nampa, Idaho.
