Crusaders Down The Falcons In Five Sets

NAMPA, Idaho – The Crusader volleyball team defeated the Falcons of Seattle Pacific in a five-set match in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference showdown.
 
The Crusaders were able to revenge on the Falcons after a five-set loss September 29th in Seattle. Tonight NNU came out on top 25-21, 19-25, 18-25, 25-12, 15-10.
 
The Crusaders had a total 16 team blocks.  Kaitlyn Tuholski had eight block assists to lead the Crusaders while Becky Flores added seven of her own along with 12 kills.
 
Setter Michelle Terpstra was two kills shy of a triple-double, posting 45 assists, 16 digs and 8 kills. Tuholski added 12 kills and 13 digs. Senior Carly Dranginis had 11 kills with a .296 hitting percentage. Linnea Phillips had a match-high 20 digs for NNU.
 
The Falcons were led by Cailin Fellows, she had 18 kills and 14 digs for SPU. Shelby Swanson dished out 46 assists and added 14 digs.
 
“We're headed into the stretch now where four of the next five teams we play have beat us in five, and it's tremendous for us to have the confidence to get rolling and know that we are good.” Commented head coach Jared Sliger. “Now we're the team I've been telling them they've been all year and confidence is tremendous.
 
NNU jumps to 11-12 overall and 4-8 in GNAC play. SPU drops to 9-11 overall and 6-5 in conference action.
 
The Crusaders will be back in action at the Johnson Sports Center Saturday night as they host Montana State University Billings at 7 p.m.
