NAMPA, Idaho - Cora Christensen and Elayna Rice combined for 20 kills as the Northwest Nazarene volleyball team defeated Saint Martin's University 25-10, 25-20, 25-21 tonight in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match at the Johnson Sports Center.

The Crusaders, who improve to 10-9 overall and 3-5 in GNAC action, were led by Christensen with 12 and Rice with eight.  "Our outside hitters played terrific tonight," commented NNU head coach Jared Sliger.  "To get 20 kills on 40 arm swings was lights out."

NNU hit .225 in the match as the Crusaders hit .417 in the opening set with 12 kills against only two errors in the 25-10 opening frame.  Linnea Phillips led the defensive effort with 13 digs and Kaitlyn Tuholski hustled for 10.  Michelle Terpstra led all setters with 26 and also added seven kills and seven digs.

"We lost a tough match on Tuesday in LaGrande, but I've told the kids don't stop believing in what we are doing," Sliger added.  "Tonight they came out with what it takes to win."

The Saints (4-8, 2-5 GNAC) were led by Carrie Starbuck and Kristyn Ross with six kills each.

NNU will host Western Oregon University on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and then travel to Simon Fraser University and Western Washington University next weekend.
