BELLINGHAM
, Wash. - Northwest Nazarene's Anthony Golden scored 14 points tonight against Western Washington University to become the 34th player in NNU history to reach 1,000 career points.  The Crusaders fell 90-71 to the 22nd-ranked nationally Vikings in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.

The Vikings improved to 17-3 overall and stayed alone atop the GNAC standings at 8-1.

WWU's Rory Blanche had a game-high 24 points and eight rebounds on 10-of-13 field-goal shooting and center Chris Mitchell had 20 points, hitting 8-of-9 from the floor, as WWU was 62.7 percent (37-of-59) for the game.

Center JB Pillard had 15 points and nine rebounds for NNU, which slipped to 9-8 overall and 3-6 in the GNAC.

The Vikings hit nine of their first 10 shots from the floor, opening up a 22-6 advantage just seven minutes into the contest, and never led by less than 10 points after that.

Golden concluded the night at 1,004 and reached the 1,000-point mark in his 98th game as a Crusader.

The WWU victory snapped a three-game winning streak for the Crusaders over the Vikings, all coming last season as NNU defeated the Vikings in both regular-season games and in the first-round of the GNAC playoffs.

NNU will return home next weekend, hosting Alaska Anchorage on Thursday and Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday.
