NAMPA, Idaho - The Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team used two second-half goals to defeat Colorado Christian University 2-0 on Monday afternoon in the final game of the NNU Labor Day Classic. The Academy of Art University defeated College of Idaho 2-1 in overtime in the day's first match.

Nate Hamm provided the game-winning goal for the Crusaders, converting from 22-yards in the 46th-minute. Hamm's shot from the left side of the box was set-up by a crossing pass from
Dylan Coffee. Coffee played the ball back and across to Hamm from deep on the right side.
The Crusaders (2-0-0) backed-up Hamm's tally in the 55th-minute when
Alex Mangeac took a pass up the middle from
Daniel Clark
and scored from 16-yards out on the right side.
"Overall we are pleased with today's effort," commented NNU head coach
Coe Michaelson. "We were able to get a lot of players in and get some players some much needed rest. I thought we did a pretty good job of possession. We kept the ball a lot...but probably didn't convert as many opportunities as we would have liked. But overall we walk away with a deserved result."
Forcing play throughout the contest, NNU out-shot the Cougars (0-2-1) 24 to 2 overall, forcing CCU goalkeeper David Ilgenfritz to make five saves. NNU's defense stood strong, asking NNU's keeper
Zander Engeman to make just one.
The Crusaders will return to their home pitch on Wednesday, hosting The College of Idaho at 5:30 p.m. in a non-conference match.
