Fessler and Abbott lead Crusaders to 3-1 win at Saint Martin's

LACEY, Wash. - Reisa Fessler and Haley Abbott each reached double figures as the Northwest Nazarene volleyball team defeated Saint Martin's University 25-11, 23-25, 26-24, 27-25 tonight in a conference match at Marcus Pavilion.
Fessler finished with 13 kills, Abbott had 12 kills and both finished with five blocks to help the Crusaders improve to 7-4 overall and 4-2 in GNAC play.
Kaitlyn Tuholski and Michelle Terpstra combined for 48 assist as Tuholski had 20 and Terpstra 28.  Kailey Trautmann led the Crusader defense with 24 digs.
Saint Martin's (3-10, 2-5 GNAC) was paced by Kristyn Rose with a match-high 17 kills, while Cymbree Decosta had a match-best 48 assists and Brianna Bautista led all defensive players with 39 digs.
NNU hit .400 in the opening set with 11 kills against just one hitting error and finished with a .225 hitting percentage in the match.  The Crusaders held SMU to a .107 clip, recording a 15 to 3 block advantage at the net.
The Crusaders will travel to Western Oregon University and face the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night.
