ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington women's soccer team defeated Northwest Nazarene 3-1 this afternoon in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match at the CWU Soccer Field.
All the scoring came in the first 18 minutes as the teams exchanged penalty kicks in the first 12 minutes before Central Washington (5-2-2, 4-1-0) took the lead on an "own" goal at 15:10.
The Wildcats added an insurance goal at 17:01 as Carson McKole and Taylor Stanley set up Amy Pate for the goal.
Celina Mortensen scored NNU's penalty kick at 8:40 before McKole evened it up at 11:59.
CWU finished the contest with a 26-19 shot advantage. Wildcat keeper Kori Butterfield had six saves. Tanya Zickefoose of Northwest Nazarene (4-5-0, 2-3-0) stopped seven shots.
