NNU falls 0-1 to SFU

| By:
NAMPA, Idaho - Simon Fraser's Justin Wallace recorded the game-winning goal in the 101st-minute as the Crusaders fell 1-0 to the Clan on Saturday afternoon in a league match at the NNU Soccer Field.

Wallace headed home his first goal of the season off a crossing pass from Carlo Basso from five yards to keep the nationally-ranked Clan perfect on the season at 3-0 in the GNAC and 7-0 overall.

"We are very disappointed that we didn't get something from the game because we deserved it," commented NNU head coach Coe Michaelson.  "But we are so pleased with our performance.  We have just battled a top-10 ranked team to the finish and could have won."

Simon Fraser finished with an 11-5 shot advantage and held a 2-1 corner kick lead.

"From a spectators perspective, I'm sure it was a fantastic level of play to witness from both teams," Michaelson added.  "While we didn't get the result, we did a lot of things very well and if we can replicate this performance going forward we will win a lot of games."

NNU goalkeeper Zander Engeman finished with four saves, while SFU's Sheldon Steenhuis had two.

The Crusaders will return to action on Tuesday in Walla Walla, Wash. in a non-league match against Whitman College.
