Sean McDonald and
Logan Parker each had four hits and
J.T. Brodrick and McDonald had solid pitching performances as Northwest Nazarene swept Saint Martin's
7-1 and
3-1 Friday in a GNAC baseball doubleheader at Lacey.
The two losses dropped the Saints (24-21, 20-10) two games back of first-place Western Oregon, including seven in the loss column.
In the opener, Brodrick went eight innings allowing eight hits and just one run. Parker led the Crusaders (29-13, 14-12) offensively with three hits and scored three of his team's runs.
McDonald, Ryan VanBeek and Ryan Udy each had two hits and Derek Bettinson hit a solo home run in the ninth for the Crusaders.
In the second game, McDonald tossed a seven-inning two-hitter. Offensively, NNU had 10 hits including three by Ty Windall and two each by McDonald and Cameron Louie.
VanBeek drove in two of NNU's runs with first and fifth inning sacrifice flies. Bettinson also had a sac fly in the fifth.
The Saints had just 10 hits on the day - two each by Kyle Baskett, Aaron Johnson, Josh Grenier, Cody Brooks and Zach Leonard.
