WAIPAHU, Hawaii - The Northwest Nazarene University baseball team tasted defeat for the first time on Wednesday afternoon, falling 8-6 to Hawaii Pacific University at Hans L'Orange Field in Waipahu. The defeat ended a seven-game winning streak, the longest on record to begin a season for the Crusaders.
The Crusaders (7-1) rallied to score four runs in the final two innings, but it wasn't enough to overcome a combined 12 walks issued by Crusader pitching and four fielding errors.
Ryan VanBeek led the NNU offense, going 3 for 4 with three RBI's. VanBeek finished with two RBI singles and a two-run double in the ninth.

Ty Windall each had two hits as the Crusaders out-hit the Sea Warriors 13 to nine.
HPU (2-4) was led by Blake Amaral, Wade Tamaru and Jordan Oshiro who each had two hits.
Sophomore
Zeb Sneed (1-1) took the loss for NNU, while Toby Inouye improved to 2-0 for HPU.
The teams will meet on Thursday for a doubleheader that begins at 4:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. MT)
