Lady Crusaders lose triple-overtime thriller at MSU Billings

BILLINGS, Mont. - The Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team fell 85-78 in triple-overtime on Saturday night in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game at Montana State University Billings.
 
The first triple-overtime women's game in GNAC history, the Crusaders were out-scored 10-3 in the final extra frame.
 
Beata Bak led the Yellowjackets (12-11, 7-8 GNAC) with a game-high 20 points and Kayla Ryan posted an impressive double-double with 18 points and 19 rebounds.  Ryan's 19 'boards helped MSUB claim a 55 to 48 rebounding edge over NNU.
 
Heather Adams led the Crusaders (12-9, 7-7 GNAC) with 17 points and both Beth Johnson and Alla Dzhidzhiyeshvili scored 16.  Briaunna King also reached double-figures with 11 and Johnson and Falissa Smith led NNU on the glass with eight apiece.
 
NNU continued to struggle from the outside, shooting just 33.3-percent (24-72) from the floor and 26.9-percent (7-26) from the three point line.  The Crusaders were only 3 for 14 (21.4-percent) during the overtime periods.
 
MSUB was just a little better at 37.2-percent (29-78) from the field and 28-percent (7-25) from the arc.
 
The Crusaders will return to Nampa and play their final three games of the regular season at home, beginning with Central Washington next Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
