CALDWELL, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene's Anthony Golden buried a three-pointer with 1:16 to play to set a new school and GNAC record for most three point field goals in a game as the Crusaders rolled past Multnomah University 109-56 in the C of I/NNU Holiday Classic, hosted by The College of Idaho.

Golden, who finished with a game-high 25 points and 12 rebounds, broke the old record of 22 three-pointers which was set Dec. 28, 2005 against Cal Poly Pomona and 7-foot freshman post player Michael Kurimsky knocked home the final triple of the game to set the new mark at 24.

“It's always nice when you make history like that, especially in a program like this that's had some great teams and great shooters,” NNU coach Dave Daniels said.

All nine Crusaders made at least one three-pointer, led by Golden at seven for 15 from the arc.  Keith Moilanen finished with 20 points that included four triples and JB Pillard added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

“The thing that makes it special to me is we did it within our action, so shots were out of our sets…that's what we run,” Daniels added.

NNU (6-4) opened the game with a 16-0 run over the first 4:13 that included three pointers by Jonathan Hawkins, Moilanen, Pillard and Golden.  The Crusaders finished the first half 12 of 31 from the arc as Moilanen scored 14 in the opening 20 minutes of play.

“We treated this game with respect and played - we didn't pressure, we didn't full-court pressure, we just did our stuff and we just didn't run out.  I've been on the other end of some of those and I wanted to be treated with respect and that's what we did to Multnomah tonight. We just came out and ran our stuff and played our game, and I do think it'll help us. I think it could be what we need to get going and start executing a little better.”

Also in double-figures for the Crusaders were CJ Shula and Kurimsky with 11 each.  Maxwell finished with nine and both Hawkins and Jordan Nicholes added eight.  Nicholes passed out a game-high six assists as the Crusaders finished with a season-high 26 assists against a season-low five turnovers.

Multnomah (8-10) was led by David Walker with 17 and Gion Cook with 14.

The Crusaders out-rebounded the Lions 56 to 34 and finished the game 38 of 79 (48.1-percent) overall and 24 of 64 (37.5-percent) from the arc.

The teams combined to fire 108 three-pointers, as MU finished 14 of 44 (31.8-percent) and 20 of 68 (29.4-percent) overall.

NNU will break next week for final exams and return to the court after Christmas, playing at the University of Alaska Fairbanks on Dec. 29th and the University of Alaska Anchorage on New Year's Eve.
