Abbott leads NNU past Simon Fraser

NAMPA, Idaho - Senior Haley Abbott led the Crusaders with 10 kills as Northwest Nazarene defeated Simon Fraser University 25-13, 25-18, 25-18 on Faculty Appreciation Night at the Johnson Sports Center.

The league win improves the Crusaders to 17-7 overall and 12-5 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.

NNU Volleyball Faculty Appreciation Night activities included each NNU team member and manager escorting a faculty or administrative staff member out on the court during pre-game by special invitation as a way of thanking them for their impact on their lives at NNU.

Abbott hit .571 to record her match-high 10 kills and Michelle Terpstra added 16 assists while Kailey Trautmann hustled for 10 digs.

Simon Fraser's (1-20, 1-16 GNAC) Kristjana Fridfinnson matched Abbott with 10 kills and Kelsey Robinson had seven.

The Crusaders will play their final regular-season match on Saturday night, hosting Western Washington University at 7 p.m.  All five NNU seniors will be honored during a pre-match ceremony with a reception to follow in the Ferdinand Hospitality Suite.
