Haley Abbott pounded a career-high 21 kills to lead the Northwest Nazarene volleyball team to a 25-20, 25-15, 18-25, 25-17 victory over The University of Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday night in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match at the Johnson Sports Center.
Abbot, a senior middle hitter, hit .429 in the match. She finished with a match-high 21 kills against only three errors in 42 total attacks. The Crusaders improve to 5-3 in the GNAC and 8-5 overall.
"I'm really glad number seven was on our team," commented NNU head coach Jared Sliger. "Haley had a great match. At one point I looked at Lindsey (Yundt) on the bench and commented that I'm glad she was wearing a white jersey tonight. She was outstanding."
Other NNU highlights included
Reisa Fessler with nine kills,
Michelle Terpstra had 26 assists and
Kaitlyn Tuholski had 17 assists.
Kailey Trautmann led the defense with 20 digs and
Taylor Roberts added 18.
Reilly Stevens led the Nanooks (2-6, 2-14) with 12 kills and Becky Martin finished with a match-best 36 assists.
The Crusaders will host The University of Alaska Anchorage on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
