SFU tops Crusaders 2-1 in B.C.

BURNABY, B.C. - Lia Marining snapped a 1-1 tie in the 88th minute as Simon Fraser earned its first conference win of the season, defeating Northwest Nazarene 2-1 in Burnaby, B.C.on the SFU campus.

The Clan came into the contest on a string of six consecutive games without scoring a goal. They broke that streak at 38:20 as Karm Jawandha scored at unassisted goal at 38:20.

Northwest Nazarene evened the match early in the second half as Jenny Field earned her sixth goal of the season off an assist by Autumn Yturbe.

SFU finished the contest with a 12-9 shot advantage. Amelia Ng had two saves for the Clan, while Monique Ray made five stops for NNU.

The Crusaders will return to the pitch on Saturday at Western Washington University. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
