NAMPA, Idaho - Saint Martin's University scored on a corner kick in the 26th-minute to claim a 1-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference victory against the Crusaders this afternoon at the NNU Soccer Field.

Saint Martin's (4-7-1, 3-2-0 GNAC) Xan Nixon headed home his sixth goal of the season on the early corner offered by Blake Moreland and the Saint's held off the Crusaders pressure late in the game to secure the league win.

"We have had a lot of bad luck with our results this year and have been much better than our record reflects," commented NNU head coach Coe Michaelson.  "But today I feel like some guys have just had one setback too many and have given up.  We weren't poor today...and neither team created opportunities to score...But Xan (Nixon) has killed us over the years and he did again today.  And our response...our effort..was just mediocre."

The Crusaders (5-7-1, 0-6-0 GNAC) finished with a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks and SMU led 7-5 in total shots.Zander Engeman made three saves for the Crusaders and SMU's JJ Olson had two.

NNU will return to action on Saturday, hosting Seattle Pacific at 3:00 p.m. in a GNAC counter.
