BOXSCORE

MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Northwest Nazarene volleyball team fell 3-0 at Western Oregon University on Saturday night in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match at the New PE Building in Monmouth.

Falling 25-21 in the first set, the Crusaders and Wolves both hit for impressive percentages as the Crusaders had 16 kills against just one error to hit .417 but the Wolves were equal to the task, hitting .405 with 20 kills and only three errors.  Haley Abbott and Becky Flores each had five kills for NNU but WOU's Danielle Reese had eight.

WOU (6-6, 5-3) took a 2-0 lead into the break with a 25-18 win in set two as Reese added five more kills and Krissi Kemper had four.  WOU took the third set 25-22 as Reese finished with a match-high 19 kills and Kemper went home with 10.

"We talked before the match about our set distribution being even, so I thought we set a much better match...however our execution was not what we had hoped until late in game three," commented NNU head coach Jared Sliger.

"We played really clean in game one but when you are in a tug of war...if you let go of the rope, even when you grab it again...your still behind," Sliger added.  "We were even for awhile but the rope kept slipping."

Flores and Carly Dranginis led the Crusaders (7-5, 4-3) with 8 kills each and Reisa Fessler added seven.  Abbott and Kaitlyn Tuholski each had six.

The Crusaders will be back in action at home next weekend, hosting Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday night at the Johnson Sports Center.
