NAMPA, Idaho - With an offense that provided plenty of support Northwest Nazarene University goalkeeper Tanya Zickefoose earned her first career shutout victory on Wednesday afternoon as the Crusaders defeated Eastern Oregon University 3-0 in a non-conference match at the NNU Soccer Field.

 

Zickefoose made two saves and watched her offense finish with a 22-4 shot advantage and a 13-0 edge in corner kicks.

 

Kim Bowen scored the game-winning goal for NNU (2-1-0) in the 27th-minute, pounding home a rebound which came off the crossbar.  Moments earlier Autumn Yturbe had served Stacey Beckman with a cross from the right side, which Beckman then shot off the crossbar from 15-yards out to provide the opportunity for Bowen.

 

The Crusaders would add two second-half goals as Marie Smith and Kendra Courcy each scored off assists from Sarah Staropoli.  Staropoli found Smith in the 65th-minute with a corner kick and then teamed with Courcy in the 68th-minute with a touch from the right side that Courcy finished from 25-yards out just under the crossbar.

 

Eastern Oregon's Chantal Schefers made four saves and Kailey Moss grabbed one.

 

The Crusaders will return to non-conference action on Saturday when they travel to Whitman College.  Kickoff is scheduled for Noon.
