WAIPIO, Hawaii - Salvador Sanchez scored in the 65th-minute to lead the Northwest Nazarene University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Hawaii Pacific University on Monday afternoon in Waipio, Hawaii.
Receiving an assist from Brock Ogami to the center of the field, Sanchez fired from 25-yards out and saw his waist-high shot finish just inside the right post.
"This was a great way to finish off the road trip," commented NNU head coach
Coe Michaelson. "Sal and Mitch (Rice) played well, and along with the entire team, worked hard to earn a well deserved win."
Rice played in goal for the Crusaders and was credited by Michaelson for helping stop the Hawaii Pacific offense. "Mitch played very well against HPU's crossing attack," Michaelson added. "They really force the play and cross the ball constantly. He did a very nice job today."
The Crusaders will return to action on Friday, hosting The College of Idaho at 6:00 p.m. at the NNU Soccer Field.
