Crusaders Lose Twice in Five Sets in Texas Woman's Invitational

DENTON, Tex. - Northwest Nazarene let 2-1 set leads get away Saturday in losing to Henderson State and Arkansas Tech in the Texas Woman's Invitational Saturday at Denton, Tex.

The Crusaders lost 25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 25-14, 15-10 to Henderson and 25-19, 19-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-9 to Arkansas Tech.

"We finished the weekend knowing more about ourselves than when we started," commented NNU head coach Jared Sliger.  "Both Flores and Hevern had very solid tournaments, so that was a real bright spot."

Robin Law accounted for nearly half of Henderson's kills getting 27 of 55. She had 90 attempts in the five-set, two-hour and four-minute match. Rayla Duty was also in double figures with 14.

Becky Flores led NNU with 14 kills and Reisa Fessler had 13. Fessler also was charged with 11 errors.

Defensively, Northwest Nazarene got 28 digs from Haley Hevern and four blocks from Haley Abbott.

Flores had 14 kills and Briana Claasen and Carly Dranginis each had 10 against Arkansas Tech. NNU also got 25 digs from Hevern and eight kills and four aces from Fessler.

Laura Farney led Arkansas Tech with 17 kills and Sarah Von Lienen had 16.
