Wildcats defeat Crusaders in Three

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Northwest Nazarene volleyball team fell 3-0 at Central Washington on Saturday night in Great Northwest Athletic Conference match at Nicholson Pavilion in Ellensburg.

Kristel Baeckel had 12 kills and Kady Try had a match-high 14 kills to lead Central Washington (5-5, 3-2) to the 25-16, 25-21, 25-23 victory.

Baeckel didn't make an error and finished with a .632 percentage, triple CWU's team percentage of .195. NNU, meanwhile, was held to a .098 percentage.

Carly Dranginis led the Crusaders with 10 kills. Three NNU players had four blocks - Reisa Fessler, Becky Flores and Briana Claassen.

In addition to their kill totals, both Try and Baeckel also each picked up five blocks. Meg Ryan and Brandie Vea also contributed defensively with 13 and 11 digs, respectively. Setter Carlee Marble had 33 assists.

Kailey Trautman and Haley Hevern led the NNU defense with 13 and 12 digs, respectively.

NNU returns to the court next weekend, hosting Saint Martin's (9/30) and Western Oregon (10/2) on Thursday and Saturday at the Johnson Sports Center.
