NAMPA, Idaho – First-half goals by Michael Winter and Gagan Josan earned Simon Fraser a  2-0 road win at Northwest Nazarene in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game Saturday in Nampa.

Winter scored in the 12th minute as Helge Neumann earned an assist. Later in the half, Josan converted a cross from Thomas McCole directing the ball into inside the far post.

“This match was a tale of two halves,” commented NNU head coach Coe Michaelson.  “They (SFU) scored a pair of scrappy goals in the first half and I felt we played much better in the second half, forcing the SFU keeper to make a couple great saves.”

SFU remains unbeaten (7-0-0, 2-0-0) as the Clan outshot the Crusaders (4-2-0, 1-1-0) by a 21-6 count, including 11-4 in the scoreless second period.

Hide Ozawa, who now has five shutouts and has surrendered just one goal this season, had four saves. Mitch Rice earned nine saves for NNU.

The Crusaders will return to action on Thursday, playing at Saint Martin's University at 4:15 p.m. PT.
