NAMPA, Idaho - The College of Idaho swept past the Crusaders on Tuesday night as the Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team fell 3-0 to the Coyotes in a non-conference match at the Johnson Sports Center.
Ranked 17th in today's NAIA National Coaches Poll, the Coyotes (8-4) were led by Ciciley Fox with nine kills and both Sarah Harris and Madison Curtis finished with six. Whitney Owen led the defense with a match-high 19 digs.
The Crusaders (3-7) were led by
Reisa Fessler with six kills and Haley Hevern with a team-high 16 digs.
The College of Idaho opened with decisive 25-7 and 25-12 set wins, but the Crusaders battled back to lead 20-16 after a Fessler kill in the third. However, the Coyotes rallied to score four straight to tie the set at 20-20 and, knotted at 21-21, finished the match with four kills and a pair of NNU attack errors to seal the victory.
The C of I hit .190 in the match and held the Crusaders to a -.106 hitting mark, winning for the eighth-straight time in the all-time series between the Canyon County rivals.
NNU will return to the court on Saturday night, traveling to Central Washington University for a conference match against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. PT.
