MONMOUTH, Ore. - Blake Keitzman pitched a four-hit shutout in the nightcap and Kyle Boe drove in the winning run in the opener with a 10th-inning double as Western Oregon opened up a 3 1/2 game in the GNAC race Friday at Monmouth by sweeping a doubleheader from Northwest Nazarene by scores of 3-2 and 2-0.

The Wolves (18-11), improved to 13-3 in the conference, dropping the Crusaders (18-16) to 10-7.

Keitzman walked one and fanned seven. WOU got its runs on a RBI single by Jason Moseby in the third and on a fourth-inning leadoff home run by Daniel Dillard, his league-leading 11th of the season.

WOU trailed 1-0 in the opener until scoring twice in the eighth on a double by Moseby and a single by Dillard. But, NNU, which had scored in the first inning on a single by catcher Connor Rankin, tied the game in the ninth on a home run by Joel Oliver off reliever Kirk Lind.  Oliver joined Jon Keller and Rankin with two hits each.

But in the 10th, Brett Davis walked, Devon Bouvier bunted for a base hit and then pinch-runner Aaron Headrick scored the game-winner on Boe's hit.

Lind (3-2) got the win, pitching the final two innings after Michael Ward had thrown eight solid innings, allowing just six hits and no walks. He fanned six.

NNU reliever J.T. Brodrick (3-4) took the loss in the opener and Charles Pollock (2-2) fell in game two.

Three players extended their hitting streaks in the twinbill. NNU second baseman Ryan VanBeek was two of eight on the day and has hit in a GNAC season-best 15 consecutive games.

WOU second baseman Grant Glover was also two of eight extending his streak to 10. Moseby was three of six and has hit in eight straight.

The teams will return for a Noon doubleheader tomorrow.
