NAMPA - In a game that finished with a combined 40 hits and 37 runs scored, it didn't end until Tyler Nicholson singled up the middle in the bottom of the 13th inning to give Northwest Nazarene a 19-18 victory over Saint Martin's University on Friday night in Nampa.

The Great Northwest Athletic Conference game, which technically ended Saturday morning at 12:14 a.m., was scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m., but was delayed until 6:15 p.m. due to rain.  Another rain delay in the 8th inning pushed the time farther back, forcing the postponement of the second game of Friday's scheduled doubleheader.  The teams will return for a conference twinbill tomorrow at Noon, while the fourth game of the series will be re-scheduled at a time to be determined.

The Crusaders (16-14, 8-5 GNAC) were led by Sean McDonald, Cameron Louie, and Greg Christensen who each had four hits.  McDonald finished 4-for-9 with three RBI, while Louie was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and one RBI.  Christensen went 4-for-7, scored three runs, hit his first home run of the season, and finished with two RBI.

Nicholson led a group of four players with two or more hits as Kramer Uvila and Ty Windall had three each and Jon Keller joined Nicholson with two.  Uvila added his first home run of the season, a solo shot to left in the seventh.

The Saints (10-16, 5-6 GNAC) were paced by Travis Jones and Luke Abbott who each had four hits and four RBI's.

J.T. Brodrick (3-3) earned the win for NNU, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings of relief, while Kaleb Wilson (1-5) took the loss, pitching 5 and 2/3 innings of late game work for the Saints.

NNU left seven runners on base in the extra frames leading up to the 13th, leaving the bases loaded in both the 10th and 12th innings, but capitalized in the 13th with four hits.

Windall led off the 13th for the Crusaders with a single to left field, but was promptly picked-off by Wilson at first.  Louie started the NNU rally over with a single to right field, and moved to second on Uvila's single to left.  Following a strikeout by McDonald, Nicholson took Wilson deep into the count and lined a 2-2 pitch into centerfield, scoring Louie from second for the game winner.
