Beech shoots down Wolves 93-83

NAMPA, Idaho - Senior Louie Beech converted six-of-nine from the three-point line to lead the Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team to a 93-83 victory over Western Oregon University on Senior Night at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa.
 
Beech, who scored a game-high 22 points, was joined behind the arc by Anthony Golden who hit five-of-eight from long range to come off the bench and score 17.  The Crusaders (14-11, 6-8) finished the game 12-of-27 from the three point line as a team and 31-of-62 from the floor (50-percent).
 
Also in double figures for NNU were Brian Barkdoll with 15 and Drew Eisinger with 11.  The Crusaders out rebounded the Wolves 40-26, led by David Reeher who grabbed a team-high nine rebounds in only 16 minutes of action.
 
Blair Wheadon led Western Oregon (11-15, 4-11), sharing game-high honors with Beech with 22, and Rico Myles posted 17 points and nine rebounds.  Matt Schmidt added 16 and Kyle Long had 14. 
 
Tied 36-36 at the half, the Crusaders exploded from the three point line in the second half, hitting 9-of-16 (56-percent) and converted 19 of 23 free throw attempts in the game.
 
In the final home game for the four Crusader seniors, Kendall Gielow and Derek Miller each finished with four points and Robert Lippman had two.  Gielow has spent the last two weeks battling a sprained ankle and only spent 15 minutes in action tonight.
 
The Crusaders will finish the season on the road next week in Alaska, playing at Alaska Anchorage on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. AST and at Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. AST.
