LACEY, Wash. - Saint Martin's University converted on nine-of-14 three-pointers to open Great Northwest Athletic Conference play with a 67-49 victory over Northwest Nazarene University on Thursday night at Marcus Pavilion in Lacey.
The Crusaders (2-3, 0-1 GNAC) were led in all categories by
Jamie Eisinger, who scored 12 points, had four rebounds, and four assists. Eisinger was the only Crusader to reach double-figures as NNU shot just 40.9-percent (18-44) from the floor and only 20-percent (3-15) from the three-point line.
Saint Martin's (6-2, 1-0 GNAC) Jeremy Green and Blake Poole paced the Saints in scoring with 17 each. Galen Squiers added 13, including three-of-six from the three-point line.
The Crusaders out-rebounded SMU 29-24, but committed 25 turnovers and allowed the Saints to shoot 47.9-percent (23-48) from the field and 64.3-percent (9-14) from the arc. SMU had 18 turnovers against 15 assists, as each SMU player who scored also had two assists.
The Crusaders will now travel to Western Oregon University and face the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
