CALDWELL, Idaho – Briaunna King scored a game-high 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team to a 76-68 exhibition victory over The College of Idaho on Monday night at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center on The C of I campus.
King led a trio of Crusaders into double-figures as Falissa Smith added 12 points and four rebounds and Monica Garcia scored 10 and dished out a game-high six assists.
“There's nothing like coaching at your alma mater,” commented NNU coach Ryan McCarthy. “To know the rivalry and to be able to communicate that to the players is fun.”
“We learned a lot. When we scheduled LCSC and College of Idaho for our exhibition games, I knew it was going to give us great pre-season experience,” McCarthy added.
The Crusaders complete exhibition play 1-1 and will now open the regular season on November 19th in Ellensburg, Wash. , against Dominican University at the Central Washington University Classic.
The Coyotes were led by Nicole Gall with 13, Marquis Gilliam-Hicks with 11, and Nicole Bruce with 10.
NNU shot 44.9-percent (31-69) from the floor and 43.8-percent (7-16) from the three point line, while the Coyotes went 26 of 62 (41.9-percent) from the field and 5 of 10 from the arc (50-percent).
With both teams pressing the length of the court, the Coyotes committed 32 turnovers and the Crusaders were right behind with 31.
