NAMPA, Idaho -
Reisa Fessler posted a match-high 16 kills and
Haley Abbott delivered a career-high 13 kills as the Northwest Nazarene volleyball team swept past the University of Alaska Fairbanks 27-25, 25-17, 25-17 on Saturday night in front of 672 NNU Homecoming fans on campus this weekend.
"It was good to send Haley out with the team playing well around her," commented NNU head coach Jared Sliger. "We really benefitted from
Haley Abbott and
Reisa Fessler asserting themselves in the middle of the net."
While Fessler and Abbott led the offense, Haley Hevern finished her final home match with a match-high 17 digs and now has 1,511 career digs. Already the NNU rally-scoring career dig leader and sixth all-time in the GNAC, she now trails Crusader NAIA All-American Liz Benear (1,538) by 27 with one match remaining for the career dig record that includes both scoring formats.
Tereza Bendlova led the Nanooks (6-16, 4-12 GNAC) with 12 kills, Mandy Grierson had 23 assists, and Jennifer Holland led the UAF defenders with 11 digs.
The Crusaders will complete the 2010 season next weekend, traveling to Western Washington for a GNAC counter next Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Bellingham.
