LEWISTON, Idaho - The Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team opened pre-season exhibition play on Thursday night, falling 61-73 at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.
"We played a good first-half," commented NNU Head Coach Ryan McCarthy. "But when you give up 22 points from the free-throw line to a veteran team like LCSC, it's going to cost you. They are a very good team and this was quality pre-season experience for us."
Garcia added five assists and three steals to her totals and Adams dished four and stole two.
The Warriors, ranked 11th-nationally in the NAIA preseason poll, were led by Jasmine Stohr's 24 points. Stohr scored 13 of her game-high totals in the second half as LCSC shot 51.4-percent after the break and opened the second frame with a 10-2 run to grab the lead for good after the Crusaders led 33-29 at the intermission.
NNU finished 24 of 66 from the floor (36.4-percent) and 10 of 15 from the free throw line. LCSC was 25 of 56 (44.6-percent) from the field and 22 of 31 at the foul line.
The Lady Crusaders will continue exhibition action on Monday night, traveling to The College of Idaho for a 7 p.m. tip-off against the Coyotes. NNU opens regular season action on November 19th at the 2010 Central Washington University Classic, facing Dominican University on Friday and Chaminade University on Saturday, November 20th.
