Crusaders joust the Knights 80-56

NAMPA, Idaho - Beth Johnson led a balanced offensive attack as the Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team defeated Warner Pacific College 80-56 in a non-conference game at the Johnson Sports Center on Saturday night.
 
Johnson scored a game-high 16 points and matched point guard Heather Adams with five assists to lead the Crusaders (3-0) to their third-straight victory.  Falissa Smith and Briaunna King each scored 14 and both Adams and Monica Garcia added 10.
 
Warner Pacific (3-3) was led by Miranda Holenstein and Cameryn Calhoun, who each scored 16.  Kelsey Mattsen added 11 points and a game-high seven rebounds for the Knights, who matched the Crusaders (32-32) on the glass as a team.
 
NNU pressured the Knights into 29 turnovers, fueled by 12 steals, and handed out 19 assists.  Freshman Megan Hingston turned in a solid performance with eight points, a team-high five rebounds, and three assists.
 
The Crusaders shot 44.6-percent (29-65) from the floor and 40-percent (6-15) from the arc, while Warner Pacific was 17-of-40 (42.5-percent) from the field and 5-of-12 (41.7-percent) from the three-point line.
 
NNU will open conference play on December 1st, playing at Western Oregon University before traveling to Dixie State College in St. George, Utah for the GNAC/PacWest Classic next weekend.
