Game Four:  NNU vs. Metro State

NAMPA, Idaho - Jamie Eisinger scored a game-high 16 points but the Crusaders could not overcome a poor night of shooting, falling to 11th-ranked Metro State 53-48 on Saturday night in the final game of the 2010 Crusader Thanksgiving Classic, hosted by Northwest Nazarene University.

Earlier in the day, Central Washington (4-0) claimed the unofficial tournament title as the only team to finish with two victories over the weekend, defeating Sonoma State (2-2), 83-72.

Jamie Eisinger was the only Crusader in double-figures in the low scoring contest.  Brian Barkdoll scored nine and pulled down four rebounds and Paul Egwuonwu and Anthony Golden each added eight.  The Crusaders struggled from the floor, shooting 34.8-percent (16-46) from the field and only 31.3-percent (5-16) from the three-point line.

"Other than our shooting percentage, I was very happy with our effort tonight," commented NNU head coach Tim Hills.  "Drew had a tough night shooting the basketball, but he will bounce back, he's a great shooter.  We did a good job of taking care of the ball tonight but just didn't make enough baskets against a really good team."

The Roadrunners (3-1) were led by Quaran Johnson and Glenn Miller, who each scored 10.  The 'Runners shot 54.3-percent (19-35) from the floor and were four-of-eight from the three-point line.

The Crusader only committed 10 turnovers, while Metro State had 17.

NNU will open Great Northwest Athletic Conference play next weekend, traveling to Saint Martin's University on Thursday and Western Oregon University on Saturday night.

Sonoma (2-2) was led by Will Olsem with 15 points. Ben Washington and Steven Pratt scored 13 each and Matthew French had 11.

The Wildcats shot 57.4 percent (27 of 47), while holding the Seawolves to a 45.6 percentage (26 of 57).

Sprinker made seven of 11 and Perez and Gibler were both five of nine. Four different players - Sprinker, Roby Clyde, Gibler and Jody Johnson - had five rebounds each for the Wildcats. Perez had four assists and Berry had three steals.

After CWU built its early lead which was as many as 13 (32-19), Sonoma climbed back to four at 34-30, but the Wildcats closed the half with a 10-2 run to go ahead by 12 at the break (44-32).
