ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Briaunna King scored a career-high 33 points to lead Northwest Nazarene University to a 103-50 rout of Chaminade University at the Wildcat Classic, hosted by Central Washington University in Ellensburg.

 

King scored 24 of her 33 in the first half, converting 9 of 10 shots in the opening 20 minutes of action.  She finished 13 of 19 from the floor, five of six from the free throw lane, and also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.

 

"Briaunna really played well this afternoon and we were able to put two solid halves of play together," commented NNU coach Ryan McCarthy.  King scored nine of the Crusaders first 13 points as NNU raced out of the gates and led by 14 (20-6, 13:53) just over six minutes into the game.  The Crusaders would go on to lead 51-23 at the half.

Point guard Heather Adams made four of seven three-pointers and had 14 points and Alla Dzhidzhiyeshvili chipped in with 10 as the Crusaders improved to 2-0 on the season.

NNU shot 51.3 percent (41-80), including 11 of 26 on three-pointers in the win. It also outboarded the Silverswords 48-18. Falissa Smith had nine of NNU's 30 assists.

Jordan Ahakuelo led the Silverswords (0-4) with 12 points and Markeshia Manning added 11.  Chaminade shot 43.2-percent from the floor, but were held to only 44 attempts in converting 19 field goals.

The Lady Crusaders will be back on the hardwood on Saturday evening, hosting Warner Pacific University in a non-league contest at 6:00 p.m. at the Johnson Sports Center.
