Skyhawks fly past Crusaders 80-54

DURANGO, Colo. - David Kanyinda scored a game-high 31 points to lead Fort Lewis College to an 80-54 victory over Northwest Nazarene University tonight in the final game of the George B. Boedecker Classic, hosted by Fort Lewis in Durango.
 
Kanyinda converted five of seven three pointers and was a perfect eight of eight from the free throw line, leading a trio of Skyhawks (2-0) into double-figures.  Kyle Behrens scored 15 and DeAndre Lansdowne added 10.
 
Darious Walker led the Crusaders (1-1) with 12 points and Paul Egwuonwu finished with 10 as the Crusaders shot just 39.6-percent (19-48) from the floor and 16.7-percent (2-12) from the three point line.
 
NNU out-rebounded Fort Lewis 31-29 but committed 24 turnovers and allowed the Skyhawks to go 25 of 50 from the floor.
 
NNU will look to rebound on Friday when the Crusaders host the NNU Thanksgiving Classic at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa.  The Crusaders will welcome Central Washington, Metro State (Colo.), and Sonoma State (Calif.) for the classic-formatted tournament.
