BURNABY, B.C. - The Simon Fraser University women's soccer team  defeated Northwest Nazarene 2-1 on Thursday night in a Great Northwest Athletic  Conference match in Burnaby, British Columbia.
 
 
The Clan (8-4-2, 7-3-2 GNAC) scored the opening tally with just eight  seconds to play in the first half when Aly Benes converted a Natalie Fabbro  assist at 44:53.
 
SFU's Lia Marining netted the game-winner in the 67th minute off a Sarah  Fitzmaurice assist as the Crusaders scored in the final minute of play when  
Julianne Steele's corner kick offering deflected off a Clan defender and into  the goal at the 89:25 mark.
 
Steele joins four other Crusaders with three goals on the season as 12 NNU  players have scored the Crusaders 24 goals thus far this year.
 
NNU goalkeeper 
Tanya Zickefoose made six saves and SFU's Amelia Ng had  two.  The Clan out-shot the Crusaders 14-4 and held a 5-2 corner kick  advantage.
 
The Crusaders (5-10-0, 3-8-0 GNAC) will now face Western Washington on  Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in a GNAC counter at Orca Field in Bellingham.
