NAMPA, Idaho – Jill Webb and Jenny Baker each scored twice as the Saint Martin's University women's soccer team defeated Northwest Nazarene 5-1 on Saturday afternoon in a conference match at the NNU Soccer Field.
The Saints (6-9-0, 5-6-0 GNAC) scored two early goals as Webb and Baker each scored in the 9th minute. Julianna Sackeyfio assisted on Webb's tally and Sammi Thompson earned as assist on Baker's counter.
The Crusaders (5-10-0, 3-8-0 GNAC) reduced the margin to one in the 13th minute when Stacey Beckman converted her third goal of the season off a Sarah Staropoli assist from 18-yards out, but the Saints claimed the advantage right back 20-seconds later when Baker scored her second goal from a Webb crossing pass.
Leading 3-1 at the break, the Saints scored two unassisted goals in the second half as Webb converted in the 53rd minute and Kayci Donatelli in the 90th minute.
The Crusaders will play the remainder of the season on the road, beginning with a match next Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.
