SEATTLE - The Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team fell 4-2 on Saturday evening in a GNAC soccer match against Seattle Pacific University at Interbay Stadium in Seattle.

"We gave up two penalty kicks tonight, one at the end of each half, and that was the difference," commented NNU head coach Coe Michaelson.

Seattle Pacific (3-4-2, 3-0-1 GNAC) opened the scoring in the 20th minute when NNU goalkeeper Mitch Rice came out to play a crossing pass away, but it went out toward the top of the box where Tyler Schultz was able to send it home from 15 yards.

The Crusaders (4-4-0, 1-3-0 GNAC) tied it in the 33rd minute when Chris Voth redirected a Sal Sanchez corner with his foot and past SPU goalkeeper Zach Johnson.

SPU grabbed a 2-1 halftime lead with just 31 seconds remaining in the half when NNU's Stephen Davidson was called for fouling SPU's Richie Evoy.  Andy Wolverton converted the penalty kick, the first of his Saturday evening hat-trick, to give the hosts the lead.

NNU evened the score again in the 50th minute when John DiLulo chipped a shot over the SPU goalkeeper as he came out on DiLulo to challenge.

The game-winner came in the 73rd minute when Wolverton chipped in a shot from 18 yards into the back right corner.  Brandon Kuenzi earned as assist on the play.

Wolverton completed the three-goal effort in the 88th minute when the Falcons were awarded another penalty kick.

SPU held a 20-10 shot advantage and a 13-4 corner kick lead.  Rice made five saves for the Crusaders.

Michaelson added, "We are going home with two losses, but I honestly felt we deserved more, the boys played will this weekend."

The Crusaders will return to action next Saturday when they host Montana State Billings in a GNAC counter at 3:00 p.m.
