NAMPA, Idaho - Western Washington University scored two second-half goals to defeat the Crusaders on Wednesday afternoon in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match at the NNU Soccer Field.
Emily Frankland scored her fourth goal of the season in the 62nd-minute to break the scoreless tie, controlling a ball played through the middle by Jenny Barton. Frankland took the assist and beat NNU goalkeeper Tanya Zickefoose along the ground and inside the near post.
The win moves the Vikings to 5-2-2 overall and 3-0-1 in GNAC play, while the Crusaders fall to 3-5-3 overall and 1-3-0 in league matches.
WWU's Kasey Hostetler completed the scoring in the 88th-minute when her hard shot from 15-yards out zipped past Zickefoose. Hostetler collected a ball deflected by the Crusader defense that created the scoring opportunity.
The Vikings held a 19-5 shot advantage and forced Zickefoose into five saves. WWU goalkeeper Kylie Broadbent made two saves for the Vikings.
The Crusaders will return to action on October 8th when they travel to Montana State Billings for a GNAC counter.
