MONMOUTH, Ore. - Jill Petersen scored a goal early in the second overtime period as Western Oregon edged Northwest Nazarene 4-3 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match in Monmouth.

Almost all the scoring in the match came in the first half as Northwest Nazarene (3-4-3, 1-2-0) opened up a 3-2 lead at halftime with goals by Marie Smith, Kendra Courcy, and Erika Kristensen.  Smith netted a header off the foot of Molly Tipton in the 20th-minute, while Courcy's goal was an unassisted free-kick from the left side in the 28th-minute.  Kristensen added the final NNU tally in the 40th-minute, converting a 20-yard shot in transition with Kim Bowen earning an assist.

Western Oregon (2-6-3, 1-3-0), however, tied it in the first 45 seconds of the second half on a goal by Kym Witmer.

The teams then played almost 57 minutes before Petersen got the game-winner after taking a pass from Witmer.

Petersen was able to beat NNU goalie Tanya Zickefoose to the ball, giving her an unblocked net. She subsequently kicked it in from the top right corner of the box.

WOU, which got a goal and a pair of assists from Jessica Hicks, outshot NNU 16-8. Brittney Rigtrup played the final 57:29 in the net and didn't allow a goal. She had one save in earning the victory.

Zickefoose finished with three saves in over 102-minutes of action.
