Western Oregon defeats NNU in four

MONMOUTH, Ore. - The Western Oregon University volleyball team defeated Northwest Nazarene in four sets on Saturday evening in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match in Monmouth, Oregon.

The Crusaders (10-6, 3-2 GNAC) fell with set scores of 23-25, 25-18, 22-25, 19-25 to the defending GNAC Champion Wolves (5-10, 2-2 GNAC).

Lindsay Grant led the way for NNU with 12 kills and 14 digs, while Cammy Dranginis and Becky Flores each finished with 10 kills and Dranginis added five blocks.  Eki Punimata led the Crusaders with 29 assists and Haley Hevern continued to lead the defense with 18 digs.

Laura Sakala paced Western Oregon with a match-high 16 kills and Sylvia Herrold chipped in with 15 kills and six digs.

The Crusaders will return home to host Canyon County rival The College of Idaho on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Johnson Sports Center.
