CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho women's soccer team ended a three-season drought against Northwest Nazarene, defeating the Crusaders, 4-0, at Syringa Middle School.
The Lady Yotes (5-1), who nearly cracked the NAIA Top-25 for the first time in school history this week, held a 9-0 shot advantage in the first half, getting goals from Chelsea Heffner and Erika Mouritsen in the opening period to build a 2-0 lead.
After playing first 30 minutes of the second half pretty even, the Yotes broke through late in the game - getting a Mouritsen goal off a Jamie Reichel feed and a Kelly Hardegree-Ullman goal off a Jessica Ayala touch to cap the scoring.
The C of I had a 16-3 shot advantage in the victory - just their third win against the NCAA Division II Crusaders (2-2-3) in their last 19 meetings.
The Crusaders will return home on Saturday, hosting Montana State Billings in a GNAC counter at Noon.
